Introduction
Headway North Stafforshire provides a non-threatening and enjoyable atmosphere where there is peer support and understanding of their needs. Headway recognises the individual needs of the person and aims to help them to readjust to their new situation and to move forward in the most appropriate way. The process of readjustment, however, in some cases takes place slowly, often over a number of years. Various therapies can help greatly with this process.
We work hard to make all therapies available but this is always subject to our funding situation. Where we have secured grants therapies may be available at reduced costs or even fully funded, at other times we may have to levy a charge. Please ask about this at any time.
Counselling

Living with a brain injury can bring challenges such as:
- Anxiety, low mood, or frustration.
- Changes in personality or relationships.
- Memory, concentration, or communication difficulties.
- Stress for carers and famiily members.
Counselling can help by:
- Providing a safe and confidential space to talk.
- Supporting coping strategies and emotional wellbeing.
- Helping rebuild confidence and self-identity.
- Offering support for both survivors and carers.
Sessions are adapted to your needs, with extra time, breaks, or simpler communication where required.

Speech and Language Therapy (SLT)
Headway North Staffs SLT service is delivered by Advanced SLT Practitioner Aimee Williams from Speech Aloud, a highly trained specialist in Neuro-rehabilitation.
This programme was funded from September 2022 until February 2026 by a generous grant from the National Lottery Reaching Communities fund. During this time we were able to provide this much needed service at very low cost.
The SLT service is still available at a small charge.
